Now where exactly is White Beach Puerto Galera? Puerto Galera is located on the north shore of Mindoro Island, 130 kilometers south of Manila and 14 nautical miles away. Kung galing Manila, the easiest way to get there is by bus bound to Batangas port about one and half hour ride (P166 as of March 27, 2013) then from Batangas port to Puerto Galera an hour boat ride (P260+ fees).

************ DAY 1 ************

A few minutes dumating narin ang magjowang Kyle at Marvin. Lastly si Papa D at Euan naman. Dahil kumpleto na kami we decided to take the bus at exactly 2:15 am.

The trip to Batangas port went smoothly, yung iba samin natulog, yung iba naglaro ng Candy Crush or 4 Words 1 Pic at kung ano ano pa. After an hour, we’ve arrived sa aming destination and to our surprise ang daming tao na nakapila at ang mga bilihan ng ticket nasa labas na. May kontak sila Hanz na dapat ibibili kami ng ticket but hindi natuloy and they just advised us to purchase our own ticket. We paid the tickets and waited a little for the waiting area to open.

Boarding Batangas Port

This year tatandaan ko yung lalaking nag alok samin ng tubig ni Euan, pinagloloko kaming mahal daw ang tubig sa Galera. Humanda yung animal na yun next year pinagbitbit kami ng tubig from port to Galera… hayuuup… After an hour and half trip sa dagat we’ve arrived sa lupang pinangako… White Beach Puerto Galera.

We ordered, we ate, and we laughed.

Residecia De Galera Restaurant and Bar

Ang bulalo, tinola, sinampalukang manok, buttered chicken, grilled pork chop and liempo, at iba pa nilang sineserve na pagkain ay masarap at mura promise so kung dadaan kayo dito sa next Galera trip nyo try it!

2nd Stop: Fruitas

Fruitas

Perfect combination with the searing heat at paglakad lakad sa paligid ng Puerto Galera. Hindi pa madamot yung mga tindera kasi they add more milk and syrup if you ask for it at mabilis silang gumawa ng shake.

It is a must have when you visit sa Galera kahit meron nito sa Manila iba parin ang feeling kapag dun ka uminom nito.

Napansin naming cute sila at pilit kaming inaalok kumain.

Naka 2 bote kami ng long neck habang nagkukuwentuhan.

Later that afternoon dumating narin si Dexter at meet and greet na ulit.

Ang First Night

909386_10201159392729832_1278822953_n

Sobrang daming tao pero we manage to ask a waiter to assemble sets of tables and chairs para magkasya kami. Eventually dumating na yung iba naming kasama at we started to enjoy the night till dawn. After nun plakda kaming lahat.

********** DAY 2 ***********

Almost lunch time na nung magising kami. We went to our 2nd favorite tambayan sa Galera which is Manalo’s Restaurant and Bar.

Manalos

In Between SessionPagkatapos maglaro ng In Between yung iba natulog, yung iba kumain at lumabas, at yung iba nag-tong its.

2nd Night

2nd Night Out

Sobrang dami naming nainom at halos lahat kami may tama.

********* DAY 3 **********

Pagbalik namin we were formally introduced to Dixie na makikishare sa room namin kasi yung mga kasama nya ay umuwi na at dahil gusto pa nyang magstay we let her.

We also took the opportunity para magpavalidate ng tickets namin for departure for the following day kaya lang ang nakuha namin ay yung 4:30pm kasi full na yung morning at noon na boat so wala kaming choice kundi kunin yung 4:30 na boat. It’s an advantage kasi atleast maeenjoy pa namin yung gabi without worrying na maiiwan kami ng banka pero on the other hand may iba kasi samin na need na makabalik ng manila kasi may work pa so mixed emotions.

We just took a quick rest then prepare na for the final night.

The Final NightTanduay Ice

Nothing much special happened during this night, but we enjoyed it by drinking and mingling with other friends na nakita namin sa beach at sa bar. We ended up drinking sa beach and then afterwards sa bar. Sobrang daming tao and the night is so alive. We limited our mindoro sling to 2 towers and then nag bote bote na kami. Nung una pasweet lang Tanduay Ice and Tanduay Black, and then afterwards Red Horse na.

Sa bar we meet a few party people na makukulit, may isang maliit na bilat na sobrang kulit na pilit nyang binebenta yung mga kasamang nyang beki. We also met Vince na beki daw siya pero may GF at general ang tatay. Tyzer also met a guy na mukhang sir Chief but I don’t know what happened coz we are really drunk and the sounds were so loud and we just didn’t care. The party lasted til morning and the survivors Me, Tyzer and Dixie decided to eat first before going back to our room. We are dizzy and tipsy to the point na lahat ng makasalubong namin tinatanong namin kung “pauwi na ba sila”. Yung iba sumasagot yung iba dinedma kami pero I can still remember kung pano namin kulitin ang mga dumadaan buti nalang di kami napa-away. Buti this year walang upuan na hinagis at walang eskandalong naganap.

Goodbye Puerto Galera See You Next Year!

The following day we woke up almost noon. It’s our final day sa Puerto Galera, although alam namin na magkakahiwa-hiwalay kamin at the end of the the day we still managed to cheer each and everyone. Nag-bruch muna kami sa kubo to fill in our empty stomach at namili ng ilang pasalubong and then we head back to pick up our things. Inayos na namin ang mga gamit namin, binitbit ang mga bags and we are off. Syempre picture picture taker muna para may remember…

Here is the second installment of our trip to Puerto Galera. Nothing much happened on the first day but the second day is more eventful. We will be exploring Jurassic cave and know more about its rich background. I will discuss on how to bargain for really good souvenir items and novelties. Lastly, I will share to you and introduce a drinking game called 7 Waterfalls.

Day 2 April 22, 2011 (Good Friday)

It was 10 am in the morning and I am awakened by the sound of Euan’s voice, they are already awake. I don’t know what they are talking about because I am half awake. I am still drowsy and lack sleep, maybe because I went to bed a little late last night because I hang out a bit longer in the beach with Oliver and Aljheal while having a couple of drinks. Anyway, I overheard that they are talking about someone being caught on Jurassic. For those who don’t know, Jurassic is a part of Puerto Galera can be found way beyond the rocky beaches on west side if you’re facing the beach. Now the controversial part is that during night-time, many of the homosexuals staying in Galera are using the cave to meet and exercise sexual intercourse while inside the cave. I would like to hear more about the barangay officials arresting that homo but I am starving so I asked them if they had breakfast. Derick and Euan just had fruit shakes and most of us are already hungry so I went up and prepped myself and we headed to Manalo’s Restaurant.

Toooon Tulog!!!

At Manalo’s we enjoyed the free Wi-Fi, at first we didn’t know that there is an available wireless connection up until Hanz brought his iPad and started tapping away. We are able to update our status on facebook, emails, and shared some pictures too. The food at Manalo’s were amazing, their home-made fried chicken is very tasty, crunchy on the outside but soft and flavorful in the inside. They also made awesome soups and salads especially the side dish made from carrots, cabbages, onions, and dressings it was to die for. Some of us ordered pork kebob and grilled squids. The feast is just mouth-watering and on top of it the prices is so damn affordable.

Most of us headed back to room because they cannot bear the heat outside but for Hanz and me it is another opportunity to bargain with merchants of the souvenir shops. It’s quite easy to get good items in a cheaper price. You just need to know how to play along with the merchants and eventually their prices will start sliding down. Example, if the t-shirt with Puerto Galera print are priced as 120 pesos, you can still cut this up to 90 to 100 pesos by mentioning that the same design is sold lower on the other booth. A little acting that you would go back to the other store will do the trick and I assure you the prices will start sliding down.  After a little shopping we went back to the room to get some more sleep but on our way back I saw this beautifully hand painted henna tattoo at the back of a guy. It was a pair of wings and said to Hanz that I would like to have the same. Hanz disapproved it for it will only itch and turn nasty when it is about to be erased and besides if henna get into our bed covers I’ll be paying a fine of more than 1000 pesos so I agreed.

In the afternoon we still don’t feel like swimming at the beach so we’ve decided to play 2 Hits (tong-its with bets) a common card game played by gamblers here in the Philippines. After a few rounds it started to get boring then I remembered that Derick and I bought a bottle on Grand Matador brandy last night thinking of getting a drink in our room right after the sounds were halted by barangay officials. We didn’t have the opportunity to drink it so I challenged them to a game of 7 Waterfalls. For the description and rules about this game click HERE! We have so much fun and game was really exciting, too bad Hanz missed it because he need to do something but still it was a blast. After drinking half of the brandy we decided to stop and call it quits because almost all of us are already tipsy. So we rested a while and then prepare ourselves to go out in our second beach party night. That night we decided to eat somewhere else near the booth of C2. The food doesn’t taste as good as Manalo’s but it was edible enough to fill our stomach.

Since most of us are already tired and slightly intoxicated we spent much of our time watching television. American idol, Glee, and Prince of Persia are being televised. Some of us including me quickly drowsed off and rested for a while. At exactly 12 midnight, my friends woke me up so I hurriedly fix myself only to know that there are still no bars playing music anywhere. I even envied our neighbors on the other side of the resort because they have their own sound system, strobe lights, and loud music as if they have their very own private party.

We went outside and to our surprise is almost pitch black and dead silent. The only thing that you can hear is the loud chit-chat of people trying to enjoy themselves despite that there is no loud music playing. Although drinking was allowed it is not the same, unlike last year where everybody party wildly at the beach and the bar. With that scene we decided to continue playing 7 Waterfalls but this time we are going to do it at the beach and we will be drinking Mindoro Sling. Even without sounds we had a lot of fun and we just enjoyed each other’s company. We also saw Ian, he’s our friend long time ago that we rarely see, he introduced us to some of his friends. After a few more drinks we decided to head back to our room and rest. We enjoyed the night but still we are very disappointed to the way the management in Galera prevented us from having a good night fun. – End of day 2.

Four in the morning is the time we’ve decided to meet at the terminal of Buendia. We are all excited to reach our destination that is always a year in the making. Summer destination for every year during Lenten season for us is Galera. It is not the best place you can go for a summer vacation but for us it’s like the perfect place where we can unwind and forget about the life we have in the city. It’s like we are living a whole new world when we are staying here.

Day 1 April 21, 2011 (Maundy Thursday)

We all assembled at KFC Buendia and ate our early morning breakfast. The six of us Hanz, Yuan, Derick, Ton, Enzo and me decided to take the bus bound to Batangas port while James will just follow us there because he is having difficulty getting a bus to Buendia. After a small chit-chat and a few fooling around we stepped into the bus and off we go to Batangas Port. Almost all of us slept during the trip and after almost two hours we’ve arrived in our destination. Just like last year, the management in Batangas port is so unorganized. We are dragged in this very long queue just to get our ticket. It took us almost two hours before we can get into the waiting area where we waited another hour or two before we board the boat. James already caught up with us and there we waited in vain and then finally at 10:30 am we boarded the boat and our trip to Puerto Galera started. As I remember the trip went well at first but when we are already half-way our trip the waves started pounding our boat. Massive waves started to hit and water started to pour into the boat. I can still picture the look on Enzo’s face when salt water splashed down his face hahaha!!!

At noon, we finally arrived in White Beach Puerto Galera. There are already a lot of people sun bathing, eating grilled foods, and swimming in the clear blue waters of the beach. We are all starving but we need to check in first so we went ahead and checked into VM-Resort. Hanz’s PR skills managed to cut our room rent by half, one of his seaman friend paid for the reservation fee, cool eh?!? So we settled in, unpacked and freshen up, some of us bathe because it was so freaking’ hot and almost all of us are sweating even if the air conditioning unit is in full blast.

So we took our late lunch in one of our favorite fast food chain in Galera, “Foodtrip sa Galera”. They offer a variety of dishes. Tapsilog, tocilog, daing na bangus, itlog na pula, sausages, fried chicken, barbecue, sandwiches, and a lot more. And what I love about their meals is that they offer unlimited garlic rice. The prices are affordable too and they are open 24 hours.  On top of it, their waiters and waitresses are so accommodating and attentive, they value good customer service.

After a fulfilling meal, some of us head back to the room to get some rest. I and Hanz decided to start purchasing pasalubong. I personally shopped for myself because I brought too little wardrobe because I am planning on wearing sandos sold in Galera.  After shopping we headed back to the room to take some rest.

We didn’t get in the water on the first day instead we walked around the beach and check out the establishment and booths where we can hang out later. Of course walking in the beach would not be complete without the fruit shake of Fruitas and banana que. We also went to C2 Green Tea’s booth where they premium items just by purchasing their products. There is water pouch, floaters, bottle strap, mini tent, and of course my personal favorite the “poi” (I purchased 2 of these hehehe).

There is also the stage of San Miguel Beer and Tanduay where mini concert are held. The frenzy and EZ lubricant booth where they offer special prizes just buy purchasing. We also manage to see the Take the Test booth promoted by K Brosas too bad though we didn’t get the chance to see her. At the beach a lot of people are playing volleyball, covering each other with sands, building sand castle, sun bathing, dancing, have their hair braided, and having a massage. It’s like we are in total paradise where relaxation is the theme and everywhere there is food… food… FOOOOOOD!!!

Night time, we had our dinner at Manalo’s Restaurant where they serve super tasty crab and corn soup and calamari. We watched a couple of fire poi dancing at the beach. We ready ourselves to party parteeee!!! We headed at Mikkos Bar where we met “Ateh”. Ateh is a gay waitress and she assisted us in getting a good table to have our drink of the dreaded Mindoro Sling. We had a lot of fun, so many people dancing, cheering, and having a good time. We met a couple of familiar faces Aljheal and Oliver enjoying their drinks together with their friends.  The night is so wild, the beach is too crowded, and music is just nirvana. Unfortunately, with respect to the Lenten season the sounds were cut off at 2am in the morning. It is already Good Friday and the barangay officials in Galera directed the bars and establishment to observe silence. Disappointed just like the other crowd just finished our drinks and headed back to our room and call it the day. – End of day 1.
