Other than this, you can also safely consume vegetables such as mushrooms, bok choy (pak choi), endive, jicama, radish, cucumber, olives, amongst many others. If consumed in moderation, you can also eat spinach, okra, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, eggplant, and zucchini to name a few. On the other hand, there are some foods that you must absolutely stay away from. Here they are… Potato, rice, bread, sugar, beer, and fruit. There are several items that could be added to every list, but these are the most commonly consumed by most.

It is believed to have been started in the 1930s by Kelly D. Brownell, PhD, for people who were looking to lose weight quickly. Variations of this diet plan are found aplenty these days, but the basic idea remains the same. Half a grapefruit before every meal because grapefruit has fat burning enzymes which are the key element to contribute towards weight loss. That along with 8 glasses of water a day is the key to losing weight when following this diet.

Cabbage Soup Diet

This one’s popular and how! The cabbage soup diet is one of those crash diets that work in a week. The way this diet works is that you can eat all the cabbage soup you want to eat each day, along with certain other food items, which are in fact such eccentric combinations that you almost lose your taste for food, hence, losing weight. Here’s how this diet plan works… On day one you are expected to eat as much cabbage soup as you please along with any fruit except banana. Day two progresses to soup and vegetables, except peas, corn and beans. Day three is a combination of soup, vegetables and fruits, but no baked potato. Thus it goes on for an entire week. Since there anyway has been an absurd consumption of food (or lack of it) through the week, most people find their weight reduced by at least 10 pounds.
